Burlesque Bras for a Cause

A Night of Glamour that Gives back!

A benefit for ANGELETA HEWITT

Public Assembly

April 19th, 2010

9pm-1AM

Angeleta Hewitt, known to friends as “Angela” is a 40 year old mother of three. She lives in Jamaica and is battling breast cancer. She is also the aunt to New York based burlesque performer: The Incredible, Edible Akynos. In July of 2008, Angela found a lump in her breast, which turned out to be cancerous. She had this lump removed the following November, but unfortunately that has not been the end of her battle with cancer.

Angela desperately needs to continue her chemotherapy. Her cancer is aggressive and can easily spread throughout her body. However, Angela continuously misses her chemotherapy sessions because of her financial circumstances. Angela is a hairdresser by trade, and makes money whenever she can get a client, but she is finding it harder to work due to her condition. Unfortunately, Angela missed her last chemotherapy session because she was recently robbed. This incident really set her back—that money was also meant to pay her doctor bills. Presently, she is unable to afford any sort of treatment for her cancer.

The Incredible, Edible Akynos has organized the Burlesque Bras for a Cause event, to save her aunt’s life. The goal of this event is to raise enough money, so Angela can get the vital medications and treatments that she needs.

This meaningful night of glamour will include a burlesque show, exciting raffle prizes from local businesses, and an amazing art bra auction.
